Hillary Clinton's Announcement Video

Did anyone else note the gay and lesbian couples in Hillary's campaign announcement video? What do you think?

  1. Totally noticed them, of course ;) I'm a huge fan of this ad actually. Represents a lot of different lifestyles/situations/moments that need to be addressed and recognized—but its does it in a way that isn't overbearing or TOO overtly political to me (but of course, it's a political ad...). Even though you have the kind of stereotypical well-dressed engaged white gay couple walking their dog, you also have the young (also white) lesbian couple on a couch cuddling, not necessarily limiting queer life to marriage/the nuclear family as an end goal (but maybe limiting it to whiteness?). It also shows a single-parent household at one point, which I think is totally cool. Another thing that has received a lot of attention in this ad is the fact that Hilary doesn't come in until the very end. I think this is brilliant on her part. To make her story seem just like all the others, to show that she is thinking about "everyday Americans" more than her own interests, etc. A great, smart ad in all and super hip filming to boot!
